This 10-days food tour focuses in the discovery of two beautiful islands: Sicily and Malta.

You will travel through Sicily, visiting and tasting the true South Italian spirit, from Palermo to Etna, through Syracuse and many other gems. On the 7th day, you will leave for Malta and plunge in the real heart of this fascinating island with the visit of La Valletta and Mdina.

DAY 1

Palermo

Arrive in Palermo and meet our local assistant in the airport. Lunch at local restaurant, followed by the check-in at the booked hotel. In the afternoon, meeting with our local licensed guide for a visit of the most important sights: the street markets of Vucciria and Ballarò, the Cathedral, Teatro Massimo and Politeama Theatres squares. This is your chance to enjoy the best ‘Arancina’ the special Palermitan delicious fried rice balls with meat ragù and peas during a walking tour of Palermo markets. Dinner will be served in a typical restaurant near the city centre. Overnight at the booked hotel.

DAY 2

Cefalù & Casteldaccia

After breakfast, departure with the bus and our local guide to Cefalù for the half day guided visit. Siding the great blue coast, you will visit the medieval village on the sea, with its beautiful little shops of handmade products and breathtaking views. Recommended are the visit of the Norman Cathedral and the Rock (La Rocca). Lunch will be in Casteldaccia, with a taste of the typical delicacies like local cheese or bruschette bread. In the afternoon, return to Palermo with free time at leisure for shopping and individual activities. Dinner will be served at the hotel or in a nearby restaurant. Overnight at the booked hotel.

DAY 3

Taormina

Departure with the bus and our local guide to Taormina for its guided discovery. Taormina is surely one of the most precious jewels of Sicily. It is situated 1 hour drive from Catania and it is a small town perched on a cliff at 200 metres high and it offers an incredible view of the sea and the Etna volcano: a must-see are the Greek Roman Theatre and the Cathedral, together with all tiny little streets rich in shops and boutiques. Taste the ‘Sicilian Cannolo’, the delicious ricotta cheese pastry that is an iconic experience. Lunch will be served in a typical restaurant. In the afternoon. free time in Palermo. Dinner and overnight at the booked hotel.

DAY 4

Syracuse & Catania

After breakfast in the hotel, departure with the bus and our local guide to Siracusa. Guided visit of the archaeological site, Neapolis. The archaeological site, situated in the northwest of the town, is home to a staggering number of well-preserved Greek (and Roman) remains. The main attraction is undoubtedly the Greek theatre that dates back at least until the 5th Century BC. Its cavea is amongst the largest ever built: its 59 rows could accommodate up to 15,000 spectators. Lunch in a typical restaurant. In the afternoon, transfer with the bus to Catania with the check-in at the booked hotel. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

DAY 5

Etna Volcano

After breakfast, departure with the bus and our local guide to Etna volcano. Arrive at the Cratere Silvestre for a stop with a panoramic view over the sea and the area. You can buy some typical lavic stone souvenirs there and it is possible to add a wine tasting at high-altitude vineyard to the visit. Lunch in a typical restaurant and then return to Catania. Arrive at the hotel and free time for leisure and shopping. Dinner and overnight included.

DAY 6

Catania

After breakfast in the hotel, walk around the city to discover Catania with our licensed tour guide. Catania’s historic core is a Unesco-listed wonder, where black-and-white palazzi tower over sweeping baroque piazzas. One minute you’re scanning the skyline from a dizzying dome, the next contemporary art in an 18th-century church. Indeed, food is another local quality. This is the home of Sicily’s iconic ‘Pasta alla Norma’ and the extraordinary La Pescheria market. Dinner and lunch in the hotel or in a nearby restaurant. Overnight at the hotel.

DAY 7

La Valletta (Malta)

Transfer to the port with the bus and departure to La Valletta with the ferry. Arrival in La Valletta and meeting with the new driver. Guided sightseeing with the visit of the famous Saint John’s Cathedral, famous for the carved stone wall designs, the painted vaulted ceiling, side altars and Caravaggio’s painting. The sightseeing will also include the visit of the beautiful Barrakka GardensLunch in a typical Maltese restaurant. In the afternoon, check-in at the booked hotel with our local guide. Free time. Dinner in the hotel or in a nearby restaurant. Overnight.

DAY 8

Mdina (Malta)

Transfer by bus and guided visit of Mdina: a tiny fortified city in the northern region of Malta. Mdina is a medieval town enclosed in bastions, located on a large hill in the centre of Malta. The town was the old capital of Malta, and with its narrow streets, few inhabitants and beautiful views over the Island it is truly a magical town. Lunch in a typical restaurant with 3 courses and water included. Return to the hotel by bus for some relax. Dinner at the Hotel or in a nearby restaurant. Overnight.

DAY 9

Rome

Transfer to the airport by bus and departure to Rome. Meeting with the new driver and check-in at the booked hotel. After lunch in a typical restaurant, transfer by bus and guided visit of the Colosseum. The Colosseum is the main symbol of Rome. It is an imposing construction that, with almost 2,000 years of history, will bring you back in time to discover the way of life in the Roman Empire. Later on, free time and dinner in the hotel or in a nearby restaurant. Overnight.

DAY 10

Arrivederci!

After breakfast, transfer out from the hotel in Rome to apt FCO for your flight back.
